Joy Evans Therapeutic Recreation Center
Designed to enhance the therapeutic benefits of biophilic design, the new Joy Evans Therapeutic Rec Center building offers expansive views of the surrounding natural landscape from all major public areas. Natural materials blur the line between indoors and outdoors, while dramatically sloped ceilings and roofs with deep overhangs provide solar protection and help the building blend into its residential context.

The facility supports therapeutic recreation for all ages and abilities and features an indoor natatorium with a warm-water therapy pool and spa, gymnasium, fitness and wellness studios, a multipurpose room with kitchen, senior and tech lounges, and various activity rooms. Outdoor amenities include playgrounds, a splash pad, multi-sport areas, a sensory garden, and a community garden—all connected by walking trails. The project targets LEED Silver certification, emphasizing biophilic and universal design throughout.
