Rooted in the history of its surroundings while simultaneously embracing modern, dynamic placemaking, the DLR Group Washington DC office is a tribute to the District itself. The layout mirrors the city’s neighborhood-based structure, offering distinct, equitable zones with unique amenities that support user choice and flexibility. Biophilic design is woven throughout, with greenery that reflects the District’s parks and adds a sense of vitality. Historical elements like white marble and rich wood tones are balanced with industrial finishes such as polished concrete and open ceilings. Brand-red lighting guides visitors through the space, culminating their journey at two red chairs under the DLR Group company logo.

Finishes in the space were selected with sustainability in mind, prioritizing Red List Free products. An efficient HVAC system adjusts in real-time to demand, while circadian lighting subtly shifts throughout the day to align with outdoor conditions—supporting health, reducing eye strain, and lowering energy use.
